Charterstone Campaign: Begin

I’m really starting to fall behind again on posts. Guess this weekend is going to be catch-up weekend. I think maybe my format is too rushed. Maybe I need to write about things with 1 week delay. That might help given how many pictures I take. Any input?

I’ve been very excited to play Charterstone since I saw it at RIW. I’ve never played legacy game before, but the idea was always a little off-putting. A game you can only play once? Ludicrous. After reading about Charterstone, the legacy part of it just provides a unique experience, but after the campaign, you are left with a worker placement game that is unique to the play experience you and your friends created. Being able to play it again was a good lure to get me to buy it and try it out.

It supports 6, but I only found 5 that wanted to commit to the length of the campaign. Our first session went well. I look forward to finishing the next 10 sessions.

This was Ian’s last week in Michigan. He just got back from overseas, so I invited him to come grab dinner with Dante, Joyce and I. I had black sesame ice cream when we were at Whistler. It was amazing. I felt like I could probably make it, so I gave it a shot. Maker:S,Date:2017-8-22,Ver:6,Lens:Kan03,Act:Lar02,E-Y

It tasted roughly how I was hoping. I will need to play around to get the taste I want I think. We also made a chicken dish which the cookbook translated as “Chicken with Sichuan Pepper” (川椒雞). For the ingredients I put in there, I was surprised the flavor wasn’t stronger. Maker:S,Date:2017-8-22,Ver:6,Lens:Kan03,Act:Lar02,E-Y

After our dinner, we played a new game I got. It came in 2nd place for a lot of golden geek awards for 2017. Azul is a lot of fun, with very simple mechanics. The strategy is a lot more complex than you might expect.
